Airport shuttle bus (Aerobus)

Airport shuttle bus
Shuttle bus between Airport and the city

Central railway station is located along the ring road around the Old City, but the Marconi airport is a little bit distanced so you should take a taxi or bus. Bologna's bus ATC Company organizes a shuttle bus (Aerobus) between the airport and city. There is a bus every 15 minutes daily and it costs 5 euros for one way. It can be purchased on board of the bus. In the center of the city there are three bus stops: Via Indipendenza, Via Ugo Bassi, and at the central station. It takes 20-25 minutes without traffic.

During the fair periods shuttle from the airport and fairground is organized, too. (except June, July, August and period of Motor Show). The bus departs every 30-40 minutes, but limited: departure from the Airport from 9:00-11:30 am, from the fairground from 16:00-18:00. It takes 25-35 minutes. It's possible buy tickets at a tobacco shop. For details please see below the web site of ATC.

Trade Fair (Fiera)

Bologna's Trade Fair
A modern area of the fairground

Northern outskirts of the city there is a modern area with new buildings. Bologna fair is held here. The Exhibition Center was designed by the Japanese architect Kenzo Tange in 1970. Total area of this fairground is 375,000 square meters, the outdoor exhibition space is 180,000 square meters and indoor space is 80,000 square meters. Indeed, this is one of the Europe's most important trades fair.

Here various famous fairs are held throughout the year. The fair of books for children in March, cosmetics trade fair in April, Saie construction industry trade show in October, motor show in December, Lineapelle leather fair held twice a year are especially famous. During the Fair periods all of hotels are fully booked, restaurants in the old town become very crowded with many foreigners coming to the fair. I've heard that companies and visitors should book hotels one year before.
